Of course, our version of Staff Picks has a decidedly skintillating angle, as we suss out which films from a particular subgenre are the best to find great nudity. This week let's cover one of the absolute BEST genres of movie making: Cinema Du Look.
This was a brief French film movement that literally means "cinema of the look". These 80s and early 90s films specialized in spectacle over storytelling. They like style over substance. That might be while the movement was short-lived - stories reign supreme and relatable characters and premises help a film's longevity - but these movies sure are pretty to look at. The pretty babes in the movies don't hurt either! Famous directors who were part of this movement include Luc Bresson, Jean-Jacque Beineix, and Leos Carax.

The Lovers on the Bridge
Directed by Leos Carax, this 1991 film is a love story between two homeless migrants. Juliette Binoche is an artist whose sight is failing her. She falls for a circus performer with a drinking problem. Ah, the French. The film follows their daily life as they try to survive and stick together while living under a bridge.
Binoche may be losing her vision in the movie, but she is a vision! As usual, Binoche looks beautiful in the movie. We see her full frontal in one scene and then watch her silhouette run on the beach towards her (wildly endowed) lover.
Diva
One of the first films to be considered part of this movement in 1981's Diva. The film follows a relationship with an American singer who falls for a woman with a beautiful voice. The woman doesn't want to record her voice, so he sneakily records her. When recording her, he accidentally records a police chief talking about some incriminating things! Some shocking thrills and opera singers take us through a wild film!
Brigitte Lahaie has a hot scene where she walks around Paris. Her skirt blows up as she walks over a Subway grate to show her panties off to all of Paris. This is a Marilyn Monroe moment for the foxy French star! Watch the scene here and you'll be blown away:
Betty Blue
This 1986 film is lousy with nudity in all of the best ways! A French repairman falls for a woman named Betty played by the exquisite French actress Béatrice Dalle. What ensues is a passionate romantic drama filled with sex, sex, and more sex! These two have an extremely passionate - and extremely French - love affair.
Beatrice's nude scenes are gorgeously shot as the pair explore each other's bodies in a variety of locations. Clémentine Célarié also pops her massive mams out to feed a baby. Between Betty and Clementine, you'll have a great time!
The Big Blue
Luc Bresson was great at directing in and out of France and Hollywood. As a result, he directed Rosanna Arquette in his 1988 romantic thriller. A European man falls for Rosanna, but his friends are suspicious of her. It turns out they had a right to be! But can you blame him for falling for a woman as beautiful as she was in 1988?
