The dramatic love story Salt on Our Skin (1992) follows the long-term romance between George, a wealthy and worldly woman (Greta Scacchi), and a simple Scottish farmer named Gavin (Vincent D’Onofrio). Like his fellow Italian-American thespian Al Pacino, D’Onofrio has taken overacting to it’s farthest limits, most notably in films like The Cell (2000) and Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket (1987), for which he gained seventy pounds. Appropriately he also plays the archetypal ham Orson Welles in a short film called Five Minutes, Mr. Welles (2005). You’ll want five minutes too when you strain to see Greta’s left gazonga as she gets violated by Vince.
