Resident Alien (2021-2022)

Hilarious character actor Alan Tudyk gets his chance to shine in the spotlight as the title character in the SyFy original comedy series Resident Alien, which debuted on SyFy and the Peacock streaming service in early 2021. Tudyk stars as an alien (of the outer space variety) who crash lands in a small Colorado mountain town. Realizing he's stuck there, he uses his shapeshifting abilities to disguise himself as a human, assuming the identity of the town doctor Harry Vanderspeigle, and planning to eliminate all of the human residents of the town. This plan is put on hold when he realizes that the mayor's son Max (Judah Prehn) can see past his shapeshifting and actually see Harry in his true alien form. Before long, Harry gets roped into a murder mystery plot that sees him working together with the townspeople and calling his mission to kill them all into question as he begins to integrate himself into the town. The show was created by longtime Family Guy writer and producer Chris Sheridan, meaning it has that same commitment to subversion of television tropes, which is sure to be a big hit with fans of post-modernism and irony. One area you may find the show lacking in is nudity, which the show has none of in the first two seasons. The mayor's wife, played by Meredith Garretson, does show off some impressive cleavage during a hilarious sex montage with her husband in season two, but that's as close as we've gotten thus far! Come on SyFy, we know that nudity isn't a totally Alien concept to you guys!
