Whether it's Oscar season holdovers going into wide release or films the major studios are looking to dump into theaters unnoticed, January is a strange time at the movies. 2010: Fish Tank
The second feature film from Oscar-winning director Andrea Arnold (American Honey, Big Little Lies S2), this intense familial drama opened on this day ten years ago,one of those aforementioned awards-seasonholdovers. Sadly the film didn't gain much traction amongst Oscar voters, but the film definitely caught on here at Skin Central! Before the world caught on to the sly charms of Michael Fassbender, he played one of his typical dubious scumbag characters in this flick, a man dating a woman (Kierston Wareing) while also being sexually attracted to her15-year old daughter (played by 18-year oldKatie Jarvis).
Just prior to the one-hour mark, Jarvis peeks in on Fassbender andher on-screen mom getting down, and we get some nice looks at Kierston Wareing's boobs and bush as they have loud, vigorous sex...
Things get awfully precarious just 23 minutes later when a drunk Fassbender asks Katie Jarvis to dance for him in the living room while her mother sleeps in the next room. This, of course, leads to the two having sex, and we get a quick peek at Katie's bush as he lowers her pajama pants...
The icing on the cake is that Fassbender's character then ghosts the family, only for them to find out that he's got a wife and kids and has been leading a double life. So yeah, the feel good movie of 2010, obviously.
1999: Varsity Blues
21 years ago today, high school football reigned supreme on the big screen with this smash hit teen flick with an R-rated edge. James Van Der Beek left Dawson's Creek behind to play Jonathan "I don't want your life" Moxon, the backup quarterback who gets the opportunity of his life when first string QB Paul Walker gets injured. This brings all sorts of benefits his way, includingthe infamous whipped cream seduction by Ali Larter's head cheerleader that spawned countless references and memes before those were even a thing...
We also get some bonus boobage from Bristi Havins, playing a randy topless teen in a stolen police car...
Of course, the film's most famous nude scene comes to us courtesy of Tonie Perensky, who plays a teacher at the high school who moonlights as a stripper, giving the football team quite an unexpected thrill when they drop by the club one night...
1993: Body of Evidence
Director Uli Edel (Last Exit to Brooklyn) attempted to give Madonna her own Basic Instinct with this kinky flick released on this day 27 years ago, but the film was a critical and commercial failure, finally catching on when it hit home video and people couldn't be as readily judged for watching it. Not only does Madge show vadge in this movie...
It also featured Julianne Moore's nude debut, sending her career down a path of playing sexually adventurous characters...

1993: Nowhere to Run
Also on this day 27 years ago, Jean Claude Van Damme helped widow Rosanna Arquette and hertwo children protect their home in this mostly forgettable action flick. I say mostly forgettable because it does indeed feature great skin from the always game elder stateswoman of the Arquette clan! Just 11 minutes in, Rosanna bares all while getting into the shower, then shows off her amazing rack again an hour later when she and Van Damme finally get down to gettin' down...
This is a great place to catch Rosanna in the buff, but if you're looking to see The Muscles from Brussels really flex his acting chops, you need to check out 2008's hugely underrated JCVD.
1982: The Boogens
Easily the dumbest title of any film released on this day in history, 1982's The Boogens centers around a small mining town under siege by scaly turtle-like creatures—from which the film takes its title—that emerge from deep within the mine! The unfortunately named Rebecca Balding makes with the TA in this creature feature, baring her breasts in bed with a guy and her buns while gettingout of the shower...
We also get brief bonus boobage from the lovely Anne-Marie Martin as she falls to the ground after being felled by a gaggle of the titular baddies...
1974: Don't Look Now
Finally, on this day 46 years ago, Nicolas Roeg's tale of terror between a grieving couple who lost their daughter took American audiences by storm! This is another flick we covered extensively in our inaugural Anatomy of a Scene's Anatomy article, as the film's legacy is still based, in large part, on the questionable simulation of the centerpiece sex scene between Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland!
