Mr. Corman (2021)

We here at Mr. Skin couldn't have been more excited about the Apple TV series Mr. Corman when we first heard the title because, frankly, a television series centered around notorious independent filmmaker Roger Corman was long overdue. You can imagine our crushing disappointment when the series turned out to have nothing to do with our favorite schlockmeister, for you see the series Mr. Corman—which premiered on the streaming service in the summer of 2021—is actually about the ins and outs of a San Bernadino school teacher played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who also created the show in addition to writing and directing nearly every episode. Josh Corman gave up on his dream of becoming a rock star long ago and has settled into a predictable and steady routine as a fifth grade teacher. However, even more crushing to him than not realizing his dreams is the fact that the world seems to be a lot more mean spirited and angry than it was when he was a kid, and he sets out to discover if there's any kindness left in the world, or if we've all turned into a bunch of hard hearted cynics who can no longer see the beauty in the ordinary. Apple TV has been a notoriously skingy endeavor from minute one and this show continues the trend, unfortunately. There's an unbelievably sexy scene where JGL hooks up with Emily Tremaine, who strips down to her underwear as they're about to have sex before he decides to bail on the whole deal! Come on JGL, take a lesson from the real Mr. Corman... he would've shown that babe naked!
