Mary Queen of Scots (2018)

Longtime theater director Josie Rourke switched from the stage to the screen with her directorial debut Mary Queen of Scots (2018). Don't watch this flick en lieu of reading a textbook, since critics pointed out just how historically inaccurate it was. In real life, the two never even met in person and only conversed via letters. But if you're looking for a period piece with a couple of fine pieces, it's a good one! In this biographical drama, Mary Queen of Scots (Saoirse Ronan) is a nineteen-year-old widow heading back to Scotland to sit on its throne after her French hubby kicks the bucket. Her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I of England (Margot Robbie), is 28 years old, husbandless, childless, and very concerned that her younger cousin is going to come for her throne. After Mary marries an Englishman (Jack Lowden), things really come to a boil since that is viewed as a play for the English throne. He ends up being gay but gives her a son who Mary thinks is the rightful heir to the throne. All sorts of chaos and rebellion ensues, ending when Mary's cousin orders her execution. Dang, cuz, that's coldblooded! Before that, however, Saoirse Ronan is sexy in bed with her man, wearing a flimsy nightgown that is slightly see-through. Her nightgown is far more see-through when she keeps it on for some reason during a bath. The material clings to her nipples and prosthetic pregnant belly. God save the queen and her sexy nips! Margot never flashes, since Queen Liz ends up with smallpox for most of the movie. Still would. Wouldn't even hesitate. But at least after seeing Miss Ronan's rack, you'll have the hots for Mary Queen of Scots!
