Luna Park

Luna Park (2021)

Brief Nudity

Review

The Italian fantasy romance series Luna Park debuted on Netflix in the fall of 2021 and is basically a full color romanticized version of Fellini's La Strada. Well, not really, but it definitely seems to be courting the same audience. The show is set at the titular amusement park in the 1960s and chronicles the story of Rosa (Fabrizia Sacchi), a young woman who has spent her entire life working at her family's circus cum amusement park operating under the belief that her fraternal twin sister had died when they were infants. However, when Rosa pays a visit to a tarot card reader named Nora (Simona Tabasco), she is led to believe that her parents lied to her and her twin sister is out there somewhere in the world leading a completely different kind of life than the one Rosa has lived. Little does Rosa realize that her sister is actually a lot closer than she thinks and may indeed be attempting to reach out to her and become a part of the family once again. The deeper Rosa begins to dig, the more she discovers that rash decisions and poor judgment calls can reverberate through the generations, causing pain that said decisions were made to avoid. While the series is a delight for fans of candy colored 1960s circus imagery, there's not as much nudity as we here at Mr. Skin were hoping for. Simona Tabasco does make her nude debut, baring her breasts during a sex scene, but you'd be better off just checking out that scene right here and giving the other five hours and 59 minutes of this series a rest.
