Love 101 (2020-2021)

No Nudity

Review

Sometimes television shows come our way from the most unexpected of place, like Turkey, which is where the Netflix Original Series Love 101 originated in 2020, a show set at a Turkish high school in the 1990s. Teen misfits Eda (Alina Boz), Osman (Selahattin Pasali), Sinan (Mert Yazicioglu), and Kerem (Kubilay Aka) have really messed up bad this time. So bad, in fact, that it looks like they're almost guaranteed to get expelled from their school. Thankfully they do have at least one sympathetic teacher on their side, Ms. Burcu (Pinar Deniz), who sees past the negative and truly sees the potential in these young rascals. To thank her for helping them stay in school, they end up teaming with one of the most straight edged students in school Isik (Ipek Filiz Yazici) to try and fix up Ms. Burcu with the school's girls basketball coach Mr. Kemal (Kaan Urgancioglu), with whom Isik has a good relationship. Meanwhile, as the token girl in the quartet, Eda was always the object of desire by her male classmates Osman, Sinan, and Kerem, but with Isik now on the scene and an official part of the group, the sexual dynamics between everyone are constantly shifting, causing all manner of conflicts amongst the friends. Turkey must have some strict laws against nudity on television because two whole seasons of this show have yielded precisely zero nude scenes. Season two did bring us a sexy scene where Pinar Deniz shows off in bed in some sexy lingerie, but for a show claiming to be about the basics of love, they need to know that nudity goes hand in hand with that lesson!
