Life's a Glitch with Julien Bam (2021)

If you're not hip to what the kids in Germany are into these days, you may never have heard of social media influencer Julien Bam, but he's quite a hit with today's German youth. Netflix is capitalizing on his popularity with the comedy series Life's a Glitch with Julien Bam, which debuted on the streaming service in the fall of 2021. In the series, Julien and his beleaguered sidekick Joon Kim party a little too hard after winning an award and they wake up in a parallel dimension where—GASP—Julien isn't famous, but Joon is! The show bounces around from one belabored set up to the next, wherein Julien assumes that everyone is into his schtick, but it turns out that none of them care about him or even know who he is, which is a real blow to his fragile ego! The show's humor is very Germanic, meaning that most American audiences aren't going to understand the increasingly bleak set ups and punchlines, often at the expense of the average joes in a given scene. It's mean spirited and very dark, but if you're into that sort of thing, you're probably going to have a great time watching a bunch of schlubs get their comeuppance. We'd love to tell you that there's nudity in this series as well, but the four episode first season didn't bring us a single bare breast. There is a sexy scene in the debut episode where Vivien König shows off in a sexy black sports bra, but she keeps it on... much like you'll be keeping your pants on!
