Singer, songwriter, and dancer Kehlani first hit the spotlight as a member if the teen group Poplyfe. Growing up, they attended the Oakland School For The Arts for ballet and modern dance, but a knee injury curtailed their dreams of studying dance at Juilliard and shifted the focus to singing. They struck out on their own after leaving Poplyfe after they finished fourth on Americas’s Got Talent, and recorded a few solo albums, the last of which Blue Water Road (2022), was released the same year they made their acting debut on the series The L Word: Generation Q.
