Hillbilly Elegy (2020) is the film adaptation of a memoir by J.D. Vance and directed by the one and only Ron Howard. The story follows a man who believed in the American Dream so much so that he left his family behind in the Appalachian Mountain region and went to Yale to study law. He is the youngest member of his family and the only one who has moved away and moved on from them. He returns home for a visit and grapples with his family's poverty and drug problems. Now that he has been removed, he can better see what was previously happening under his own nose. The story is told from his perspective as we see his life growing up between his drug-addicted mother Bev and his nurturing and hard-nosed grandmother. His memories are clashed with life back home now that he is there. It's a loving tribute to family, Appalachia, and believing in people. This movie has an all-star cast that includes Glenn Close as Mamaw, the matriarch. Haley Bennett plays Lindsay, Freida Pinto plays Usha, and Amy Adams plays our leading lady Bev Vance. We are here for the always beautiful Amy who is a great actress and a chameleon, but it does not matter what her makeup or hair looks like - she always looks good! We can see her undies when the cops tackle her while she wears her bathrobe. When she lays down on the pavement, we can see her delicious thighs and long legs.
