Halston (2021)

Any fashionista worth their salt can tell you that Halston is a name that's synonymous with luxury and status, but how did it become one of the biggest labels in the fashion industry? The Ryan Murphy written and produced miniseries Halston (2021) seeks to shine a light on the famous single name designer, played here by Ewan McGregor. The series centers around the designers struggles to maintain his label in the late 60s and how, in April 1970, everything changed when he became friends and collaborators with Liza Minnelli (Krysta Rodriguez). Reinvention is difficult, but Halston does that, becoming a luxury brand that's known for its decadence and the decadent lifestyle of its namesake. As Halston rises the ranks in the fashion world, he is also plumbing the depths of his imagination in the bedroom, unleashing a sexual beast as he gives in to all his basest desires. As he begins spending more and more of his nights at Studio 54 partying with Joel Schumacher (Rory Culkin) and Elsa Peretti (Rebecca Dayan), he spends less and less time actually designing. With his brand on the brink of collapse, Halston is confident he can pull off another reinvention if need be, but with the 80s knocking down the door, that reinvention might not be as imminent as he hoped! Couple that with the coming AIDS crisis and it's a recipe for a pretty dour and solemn final episode—as solemn as Ryan Murphy gets. Sadly the series doesn't bring us much female nudity, but Krysta Rodriguez looks cute as Liza with a Z in her bra, and Rebecca Dayan briefly bares her left breast during a fitting with the title character! They were all impressed with your Halston dress, but we could've used some more skin!
