Review

Leave it to local PBS stations to celebrate a failed British sitcom for years after its cancellation. Ever Decreasing Circles ran for only 20-some episodes in its original 1984 run, yet you could reliably find it playing on PBS for several years after. One might expect a classic series in the Fawlty Towers vein, but this one was not much more than a somewhat clever twist on the old Odd Couple formula – told with a decidedly British twist. Richard Briers was amusing as the ever-aggravated control freak, while Peter Egan capably handled the role of ‘free-spirited semi-slob.’ Certainly nothing revolutionary, but I bet you will be able to find a few episodes here and there for the next decade or two in between pledge drives.
