In 1979, Victoria Wood wrote and starred in an award-winning TV drama, Talent with co-star Julie Walters. The duo appeared together again in 1981’s Two Creatures Great and Small (does that mean one of them was a plus size and the other shopped in the “Junior Misses” section?). Although it was only a one-shot TV special, it was considered to be successful enough for Wood to get picked up for a seven-part series. Wood and Walters debuted early the following year with a mixture of sketch comedy and song parodies. While it’s doubtful that Victoria could be accused of ever giving movie buffs Wood, co-star Julie Walters had a prolonged shower scene in Personal Services, and the view wasn’t half bad.
