For the Sex and the City-illiterate (also known as straight guys), the appeal of CW's The Carrie Diaries (2013-) may be incomprehensible. So here's the basics: AnnaSophia Robb stars as a teenage version of Carrie Bradshaw, the sex-columnist heroine of the original series. She's still in high school and this is network TV, so the sexcapades aren't nearly as explicit, and the brunches are now mimosa-free, but the wacky fashion and boyfriend drama are as wacky and dramatic as always. Carrie's gal pals from Sex and the City also make an appearance, with Lindsey Gort co-starring as Carrie's slutty friend Samantha; true to form, Lindsey strips down to her bra and panties in her very first appearance on the show. The Carrie Diaries will really put the ink in your ballpoint pen.
