Our Staff Picks column takes you back to a time when video stores reigned supreme and the "Staff Picks" section was the place to find out what films were worthy of one's time. Of course, our version of Staff Picks has a decidedly skintillating angle, as we suss out which films from a particular subgenre are the best to find great nudity. This week let's cover one of the absolute BEST years in moviemaking: underwater horror movies.
'Tis the season for ocean, lake, and even river swimming. All of these films gave us pause when it came to going into the water. Whether it was sharks or creatures from the black lagoon (so there is lagoon swimming, too), these films sent chills up audiences' spines. But these films also sent us thrills in the form of hot nudity.

The Abyss
This 1977 film by James Cameron (the dude simply loves water movies) features a rescue gone wrong when the rescue team comes across some kind of alien creature in the water. This is causing a lot of destruction, but the film leaves us wanting to destroy the shirt on Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio who looks amazing in the movie. In one scene she needs some medical attention, so the fellas on board rip open her shirt and perform some much-needed love to her chest:
Piranha
Before there was the smutty Piranha 3D, there was 1978's Piranha. It was halfway between a thriller and a jokey film when campers discover deadly piranhas in the river. The piranha just LOVE all of the sexy young women diving into the water. We are talking about women like Janie Squire who is someone to ogle when she undresses and dives into the murky waters.

Humanoids from the Deep
This film is simply swimming in nudity. Sorry, I had to! Barbara Peters directed this 1980 flick that features a ton of big boobed babes running from a creature in the sea. The plot follows ladies who go to a California beach town that has a creature waiting to gobble them up. It's no surprise that the creature wants a piece of a woman like Lisa Glaser.
Lynn Theel also shows her buttcheeks when she makes out in the sea. What a cutie!
Open Water
2003's Open Water tackles sharks which is an easy thing to be afraid of thanks to another movie that we will get to next. In this low-budget film that is better than it has any right to be, blonde babe Blanchard Ryan is full frontal in bed. She begins the movie this way which is very smart. She declares open season on Open Water with her playful nudity.
Jaws
Finally, obviously, we must discuss Jaws.Jaws is perhaps THE underwater creature feature. Jaws is best remembered for its theme music, the running from the water, the necessity for a bigger boat, etc. But what about the straight-up-the-bush shot of Susan Backline. We see her frontline underwater and it makes us drenched!
