At the age of fifteen, Sophie was baptized into the Raëlian religion, which her mother and aunt both followed. Raëlism was started in the 1970s by a French journalist and test car driver for the car-racing magazine, Autopop who claimed to have had an extraterrestrial encounter. Sophie was fully on board with the alien origins of humanity and the anticipated return of these extraterrestrials, and she became involved with the religious leader Raël sometime after his separation from Lisa Sunagawa. At sixteen, they were married in Montreal but would eventually divorce though continued to love together. In the documentary series Raël: The Alien Prophet, there are flashes of Sophie appearing topless in a magazine photo with her hubby and other breast-baring ladies, plus a full frontal image where it looks like her and the other gals are going out of a UFO.
