Kate WinsletLifetime Skinchievement Award May Have Backfired

After ten rod-stiffening nude appearances, from 1994’s Heavenly Creatures all the way up to this year’s Oscar-nominated The Reader,Kate Winslet delivered a devastating blow to skin-ficionados everywhere.

When Time magazine asked the Golden Globe winner when she planned to bare her own golden globes again, the Titanic-tittied Winslet replied, "I think I won't. I can't keep getting away with it, and I don't want to become 'that actress who always gets her kit off'."

Apparently, “kit” is British slang for “fans.”

Coming on the heels of Kate’s receipt of Mr Skin’s Lifetime Skin-chievement Award, this story has come as a shock to the staffers at Skin Central, and has them wondering if the two are related in some horrible and unforeseen way.

To see if the Lifetime Skin-chievement Award is the kiss of death for nude actresses, Mr Skin has reviewed all past winners to see if any have continued to get naked on screen.

The first recipient of the award was Sharon Stone in 2000. Sharon didn’t stop sharin’ and got naked twice more in A Different Loyalty (2004) and Basic Instinct 2 (2006). So far, so good.

In 2001, the award went to Angie Dickinson, who was 70 years old at the time and hadn’t been naked since 1987’s Big Bad Mama II. The next year’s winner was Jacqueline Bisset, who also hadn’t been naked since 1987 and who also didn’t get naked again.

Mimi RogersMimi Rogers won in 2003, eight years after her unbelievable nudity in Full Body Massage (1995), and went on to go fully frontal the very next year in The Door in the Floor. In this case, it looks like receiving the Lifetime Skin-chievement Award inspired Mimi to get up on the board again!

The 2004 award went to Bo Derek, who hasn’t gotten naked since 1993.

Pam Grier, the 2005 winner, didn’t get naked again, but did go on to make out with a couple of hot topless chicks in the skin-friendly Showtime series The L Word. Way to slam the clam, Pam!

Richly deserving sexploitation goddess Uschi Digard was recognized at the 8th Annual Anatomy Awards in 2006. And since Uschi has been retired from acting and splitting her time between Palm Springs and North Hollywood for over 20 years, no one seriously expected to see those 44DDD Swedish meatballs again.

After picking up the award last year, Toto muse Rosanna Arquette has kept herself well covered and she even used a body double in I-See-You.Com, the last movie she made before getting the award.

Out of all the past winners, only Mimi Rogers and Sharon Stone have gotten naked again, though Pam Grier gets special consideration for her work on the L Word.

Lest this fact send the wrong message to Kate Winslet and all future recipients of Mr Skin’s Lifetime Skin-chievement Award, let there be no mistake: The purpose of the Lifetime Skin-chievement Award is to honor a long history of outstanding nudity, not to signal the end of an actress’s on-screen flesh-flasing.

If anything, those recognized by the award should be more anxious to get naked on screen in the future.

Hopefully Winslet will come around and see the light so that we can all see the sights of the great Kate’s blue ribbon rackage well into the future.
