Perhaps capitalizing on the hysteria for Survivor, Peter Benchley’s Amazon gave C. Thomas Howell and Carol Alt a new lease on life when it put them on an airplane for Rio and then crashed it into the Amazon jungle. No, Howell doesn’t pull an Alive and eat the five other survivors, instead they wait for a rescue while trying to cope with natives, soldier ants, snakes, poisonous insects, piranha, big cats and… the ghosts of 17th century explorers? Hey, whatever floats your boat, and those that watched this series claim their boat was well floated. Apparently not enough of them caught on by the end of the second season, because the show was eventually shelved. Italian goddess Fabiana Udenio (Austin Powers), Margot Kidder (Superman) and Deborah Pollitt (Jailbait!) also appear, making this a very skinful series.
