The 13th installment of the DC Extended Universe (and second to last of the pre-James Gunn films, with the final being the Aquaman sequel), focuses on Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen, who figures out he can use his super speed to go back in time and decides to use this power to prevent his mother’s death despite being warned not to by Bruce Wayne aka Batman (Ben Affleck). When he tries too return to the present, he’s knocked out of the Speed Force into the now alternate where his mom (Maribel Verdú) is alive 2013 on the day he is supposed to get his super speed. He hooks up with his 2013 self to make sure he gets struck by lightning, but they both get hit, causing his other self to gain superpowers while original Barry loses his. Then General Zoe (Michael Shannon) shows up to invade Earth, so the Barrys try to assemble the Justice League but in this timeline the members of the Justice League don’t seem to exist. They arrive at Wayne Manor looking for Batfleck, but instead find Michael Keaton as a retired Batman, and he explains the concept of the multiverse. The trio decides to try and locate Kal-El/Superman, but instead find his cousin Kara Zor-El/Supergirl (Sasha Calle) in a testing facility and rescue her so she can help them defeat Zod and get original Barry’s speed back. And speaking of speed, keep your eyes peeled for a lightening fast peek at Saoirse-Monica Jackson waking up in a lacy bralet as Central City PD colleague Patty Spivot. Sadly, no one else, not even Skin Hall of Famer Maribel, flashes any real skin.
