The Demons of St. Petersburg (2008)

Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoyevsky is known for his gripping characterizations, so his own life must have been pretty interesting too, right? That's the logic behind the Italian biopic The Demons of St. Petersburg (2008), which stars Miki Manojlovic as a middle-aged version of the legendary author. Dostoyevsky is summoned to an insane asylum by a patient, Gusiev (Filippo Timi), who confesses his involvement in a scheme to kill the royal family. So now not only does he have his publisher to deal with, he's got to foil an assassination plot, too. And with darling devotchka Anita Caprioli flashing our hero her unshaven full-frontal glory, it's a miracle he found time to write anything at all.
