KEVIN CAN F**K HIMSELF (2021)

Following up an Emmy winning role on a beloved television series is never an easy thing to do, but Schitt's Creek star Annie Murphy picked a hell of a follow-up to that long-running Canadian comedy hit with Kevin Can F**k Himself, which premiered on AMC in the summer of 2021! The show's premise came about thanks to the infamous incident in which the Kevin James-starring sitcom Kevin Can Wait killed off its female lead Erinn Hayes after the show's first season to cast James' old King of Queens co-star Leah Remini. On Murphy's show, she plays a similar character to Hayes', the thankless role of a sitcom wife to a leading man who constantly makes terrible life decisions without thinking them through. However, the show's hook is that while the sitcom she's starring on is your traditional multi-camera network sitcom type of deal, she's simultaneously starring in a single-camera show wherein she can knowingly break the fourth wall and comment on the absurdity of the other show in which she's co-starring. The high concept show allows for an ongoing meta-commentary on the overall terrible quality of your average "fat guy with a hot wife" sitcom formula that's been done to death since the beginning of television itself. Annie Murphy has yet to go nude on camera and this show's first season doesn't look like it's going to change that status quo at all. There is a sexy scene in episode five where Murphy appears in her bra after banging a dude who's not her sitcom husband in the back room of a bar! However, if you're hoping to do as the title says and F**k yourself, you may be waiting a little while longer!
