Kate (2021)

Following her turn as The Huntress in Birds of Prey (2020), Mary Elizabeth Winstead stays in the badass female assassin genre for the Netflix Original Movie Kate (2021). As the titular assassin, Winstead plays an orphan who is raised and trained by Varrick (Woody Harrelson) who continues to act as her handler in the present. The film begins with her first mission in Tokyo where she breaks protocol and kills a criminal right in front of his daughter. Jumping forward in time, we see Kate on another mission about to go tits up where she encounters a girl named Ani (Miku Patricia Martineau), the now teen aged daughter of that man she killed on her first mission, whom she takes under her wing after feeling tremendous guilt for leaving her orphaned just like herself. All of Kate's plans go to hell when she is injected with poison that is set to kill her within 24 hours, leaving her in need of hourly shots of adrenaline so that she'll live long enough to get vengeance on whomever had her killed. The film then becomes a hybrid of John Wick and Terminator 2 as the unstoppable killing machine that is Kate must take out everyone standing in her way while also trying desperately to keep her teenage companion from getting killed. Mary Elizabeth Winstead is wholly committed to the premise and her character, but sadly she doesn't have any nude scenes in the film. Frankly, it moves too fast for her to stop long enough for a nude scene, so go with a slower paced flick like All About Nina (2019) if you're looking see MEW go NEWD!
