Review

Italian stallion Marcello Mastroianni plays a compulsive copulater in Beyond Obsession (1982). Although he is confined to a Moroccan jail, his job in the library allows him to check in and out as he pleases with impromptu conjugal visits. He is obsessed with his delicious young daughter Eleonora Giorgi; it’s she who brings him the only glee between his knees in the stacks. (With a gorgeous girl like Giorgi as jail bait, we can hardly blame him for doing the time). When fellow inmate Tom Berenger makes a play to become his baby’s new daddy, Marcello’s mellow family affair is swiftly skinterrupted forever.
