Man, are lesbian period pieces hot right now or what? My lord, every time you turn around it's Colette or The Favourite or the new 50s drama Tell it to the Bees. This time around, the ladies who are lusting after one another are True Blood's Anna Paquinand The Borgias' Holliday Grainger.

IMDb's plot synopsis promises another pearl clutching good time...

A single mother Lydia (Grainger) who is abandoned by her husband, meets the small village's Doctor Jean Markham (Paquin) who has recently returned to her hometown when Lydia's son Charlie is taken to the doctor after being bullied in school. When Lydia and Charlie are evicted because of Lydia's earnings from her work are not adequate to pay the rent, Jean invites them to stay in her home and she and Lydia soon develop a friendship and something more.

Meanwhile, the plot synopsis courtesy of Wikipedia isn't nearly as elusive...

With her failing marriage and young son, Lydia (Grainger) starts to bond with the towns new doctor Jean (Paquin), who bonds with Lydia's son after he takes an interest in her bee colonies. However, in 1950s rural Scotland, the women's relationship raises questions after the mother and son start to live with her after they get evicted.

So yeah, one hints at the love story to come while the other hints at trouble ahead as a result of the love story. Either way, we're in for some skin as Holliday Grainger briefly flashes some flesh as she slips into a tub at the 47 minute mark, and Anna Paquin bares boobs and buns when the two get down to business just five minutes later!

Tell it to the Beesopens in New York and Los Angeles on May 3, with a wider expansion across the country over the following weeks.
