Our Staff Picks column takes you back to a time when video stores reigned supreme and the "Staff Picks" section was the place to find out what films were worthy of one's time. Of course, our version of Staff Picks has a decidedly skintillating angle, as we suss out which films from a particular subgenre are the best to find great nudity. This week let's cover one a skinteresting genre: black-and-white movies!
I think that everything looks classier in black and white! A black and white film is STILL hot and artistic which is why so many directors still utilize black and white despite the fact that color technology is really advanced. Black and white makes a statement and it makes every nude scene look like hot art. So, check out these bits of hot art with my staff picks:
Madonna: Truth or Dare
It was the Material Girl's birthday only yesterday, so giving her 1991 film some praise is simply the right thing to do. Madonna made this documentary. Madonna let hte cameras roll when she went on tour at the height of her early 90s fame. While she was voguing in a cone bra around the world very night, we got to see her free the nips backstage! She and her dancers enjoyed playing truth or dare and Madonna spoke frankly about sex, love, and her breasts throughout the film.
Ecstasy
In 1933, a Czech film had everyone checking out a brilliantly nude new actress. Hedy Lamarr shocked everyone in this erotic tale in which she plays a young bride whose husband is impotent. She begins an affair with another man as a result and becomes torn between her duty as a wife and her feelings of lust. She filled us all with lust when she ran naked outside. This was in 1933!
Hedy Lamarr, for those you don't know, was a genius. We're all using the internet right now partially thanks to her own contributions to science. She is a legendary woman who made daring escapes from the Nazis, pioneered early radio and Wifi technology, and acted in Hollywood films for decades. You can read more about her here. One thing that I have learned from Hedy Lamarr is that going nude is the SMART thing to do.
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
Why do I recommend this film? I don't think it gets enough love - especially from nudity lovers. Eva Green and Juno Temple both star and show skin in very hot scenes. This film picks up where the other Sin City films left off as we go back to the black-and-white (and red) world of Sin City and its hardened and hot inhabitants.
Why did I choose this Sin City and not the others? It's hot! These women look good in this sensual scenes that are nods to film noir.
Elisa and Marcela
This 2019 Spanish film tells the story of a sexy sapphic romance that is based on a true story. Elisa Sanchez Loriga disguised herself as a man named Mario so that she could successfully marry her girlfriend Marcela Gracia Ibeas in 1901 in rural Galicia, Spain. That's the true part of the story. This film tells that tale and gives us some imaginative scenes where our leading ladies are banging each other.
Greta Fernandez and Natalia de Molina star in three epic sex scenes, including one where they do some 1901 bonadage play with seaweed. These lesbians were resourceful and sexy!
Lenny
In 1974 Bob Fosse made this film about Lenny Bruce. The film is mostly interesting because Lenny's life was so fascinating. He was a trailblazing standup comedian who was actually pushing boundaries because he would get arrested for his edgy jokes. Comics complain about getting canceled today, but they have it easy compared to Lenny's life! Lenny sadly became paranoid and obsessive about sticking it to The Man.
Valerie Perrine plays Lenny's wife in the movie, Honey Bruce. She looks as sweet as honey when she lays naked in a bed of flowers. What a vision!
A Smell of Honey, A Swallow of Brine
Speaking of honey, let's take a look at this hot flick. How about a little bit of sexploitation? No one could say 'no' to that! David F. Friedman was the king of sexploitation and he proves that in this sexy flick starring Stacey Walker as a Texan titan who preys on men. The man eater meets her match in Linda Gearheart who has one seriously sexy body.
Both of these babes have thick nips and a bombshell bodies. Yes, it's sexploitation and the plot is equal parts bonkers and lacking, but that's what you get with this genre! That's why we love it!
The Sign of the Cross
Famous director Cecil DeMille was famous for a reason: his films were fantastic. In this historical drama from 1932, a Roman soldier falls in love with a Christian woman back in the pre-Christian Roman empire. He falls for a woman of faith and then has to wrestle with his love for her and his duty to Emperor Nero. Claudette Colbert played Poppaea who popped her top to take a topless bath. What a blessing!
There is also a kinky scene for BDSM lovers in which Sally Rand is draped in flowers that cover up her naughty bits as she is tied up and chained to stakes because she is being offered to crocodiles to eat. Who said old movies were tame? They certainly weren't!
