Based on the same-named 2018 book by Patrick Radden Keefe, this historically-based miniseries takes place in Northern Ireland during The Troubles, starting in 1972 when Jean McConville (Judith Roddy), a widow and mother of ten who vanished from her home like so many others during this time. At the center of the story is Dolours Price (Lola Petticrew), an art student who joins the Irish Republican Army (IRA) with her younger sister Marian (Hazel Doupe) in the hopes that they can get their hands dirty doing the most dangerous of jobs instead of helping from the shadows. An older Dolours (played by Maxine Peake) recounts in an interview their involvement in strategic paramilitary violence under the leadership of Gerry Adams (Josh Finan), who decades later is now a leading member of the Irish Republican political party who claims he was never part of the IRA. We can’t talk about the series and say nothing about Lola’s amazing full-frontal debut when she refuses to put on a prison uniform after being strip searched. Her boobs and bush truly are da bomb!
