Today we are going to remember Cloris Leachman who sadly passed away earlier this week. We wanted to take a moment to remember this amazing actress and some of her lesser-known nude scenes.
Cloris was born in Des Moines, Iowa, where she was always praised for her beauty. She wound up moving to the Chicagoland area to attend Northwestern University, but she was always more attracted to entertainment than academics. She began entering beauty pageants and was even the runner-up for the 1946 Miss America pageant. Her breakthrough role came in 1971's The Last Picture Show where she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of a frustrated smalltown housewife who gets her kicks with a young man.
She wasn't just a dramatic actress - this lovely lady could do comedy and she could do it well! She appeared in Mel Brooks movies such as Young Frankenstein and History of the World, Part I, but she is likely best remembered for playing the nosy landlord in the Mary Tyler Moore Show. She was also in notable episodes of The Twilight Zone (specifically "It's a Good Life" with that kid who could read minds) and The Muppet Show. It's her 1970s work that introduced us to Cloris with movies like Crazy Mama and The People Next Door showing off her buns and boobs.
Cloris passed away on January 27th, 2021, of natural causes in her California home. She will be greatly missed!
