Sad news for cinephiles everywhere as Italian writer and director Bernardo Bertolucci has passed away at the age of 77. Bertolucci began his career as a writer and assistant director, working under such other deceased Italian legends like Sergio Leone and Pier Paolo Pasolini, before blazing his own trail through the cinema.
One of the more art savvy and literate directors of all time, his works frequently cite famous paintings and areinstantly recognizable thanks totheir non-linear structure and numerous, elaborate tracking shots.
