The Netflix film Blonde about the life of Marilyn Monroe has been delayed. When the news of its release date being pushed back, rumors have started to emerge about the reason why. It turns out, according to some insiders, that Netflix thinks that Ana De Armas is actually TOO sexy as Marilyn Monroe.
For real! The actual words being bandied about are "appalled" and "horrified" because the film has a lot more gratuitous sex and nudity than Netflix intended. Whoopsie! Let's hand it to director Andrew Dominik for making this kind of "appalling" film.
The sad part about this news is that it indicates Netflix wants to recut and reshoot the movie so that there is less hot sex. What did they expect? Not only is the film about legendary sex symbol Marilyn Monroe, but it stars current Cuban bombshell Ana De Armas. This is a match made in skin heaven!
The weird thing is that feminist writer Joyce Carol Oates wrote that she saw a rough cut of the film and thinks that it is brilliant. She claims that while it is disturbing, it is a unique perspective on Marilyn's life that no male director has been able to capture yet. Color me skinterested! Knowing that the movie makes this kind of impact AND contains graphic nudity has me begging to see the uncut version.
Ana is obviously no stranger to nudity. She loves showing off her big breasts. Fingers crossed she keeps up her amazing track record with this film. Netflix, leave the skin alone!
