Ten years ago the indie horror film It Follows was released and was skincredibly influential. With a deadly curse that is passed on through sex alone, the sexy new film was unlike anything we had ever seen before and its word-of-mouth campaign ensured its success (the nudity likely helped, too). Now we are getting a sequel! Will it be as sexy as the original? Let's find out!
It Follows was a very unique film. You can even say that it may have started the "trauma as horror" trend with its story about a woman who is followed by some kind of demonic entity that only she can see and it all happens after she sleeps with a guy. He has sexually transmitted a curse to her and the only way for her to get rid of it is to pass it on to someone else...or face her death!
Maika Monroe starred as a lovely young lady named Jay who has an innocent night of sex with a new beau who declines to tell her that she will now be followed by a life-threatening supernatural force. Whoops! I've heard of people "neglecting" to tell someone about another spouse or their job - but a supernatural entity that will threaten and follow you until you fuck someone else? That's a new one!
Plenty of babes are hot in this film, too. That's a given considering its sexy content! Olivia Luccardi shows off the pokies in her bathing suit while Leisa Pulido bares boobage. Alexyss Spradlin pops off her top to reveal her left breast, too! You will want to start following these babes after you see this.
It was one of the most creative horror plots in years and it redefined the horror genre for the next decade or so. The unique film was also a low budget movie, made for under $2 million. Due to the storyline and word-of-mouth, It Follows would go on to gross $20 million. That's really good considering it was an indie film!
Because of the success of the film, people have been wondering about a sequel for years and years. The time has finally come...just in time to make all of us come. The sequel is not going to be called "It Follows 2". It is going to be called They Follow. Oh, how spooky! Are there multiple entities? Are these spread through group sex? I can only imagine - and imagining is fun.
Why has the sequel taken a decade to come to fruition? We don't quite know the answer to that yet. Writer and director David Robert Mitchell has not done a ton of work in the time since. He did write and direct Under the Silver Lake. There were numerous naked ladies in that trippy LA flick, most notably blonde comedian Riki Lindhome showing her hooters in the sack.
He has three upcoming projects, including They Follow and an untitled film starring Anne Hathaway. I think he just needed to take a rest before making this giant comeback. In the meantime, we can await They Follow by following the nude scenes from the original!
