Vadim was actually (and luckily) married to Brigitte Bardot at the time, so it's no wonder that he cast her as the beautiful babe that men lust over in St. Tropez. She is married to a man that she can't - and doesn't - want to stay faithful to because she is lusting after his brother. But she does stay faithful to hanging out in her underwear.

This plot was a salacious lot for the 1950s, even in France. It was condemned by the Catholic Church's Legion of Decency and there was definitely a scandal over its loose sexual themes. While the movie doesn't even show that much nudity - or that much of Bardot compared to her other work - it caused such a stir when it came over here in the states that it is one of her most remembered roles.

It's worth noting that the tagline to this film was "...but the devil invented Brigitte Bardot!" Well, thank the devil for this wonderful creation! Watch ...And God Created Woman to see what we're talking about. This flirty drama will have you salivating over Bardot's buns and boobs!
