Today's director for our Female Filmmakers series is one of those rare and cool directors who has not only been an actress but has also been a nude actress. Hey, that's our favorite! It's kind of our whole thing at Skin Central. Let's celebrate a visionary and gorgeous talent: Sarah Polley.
Sarah Polley comes to us from Canada. She was born and raised in Toronto where she got involved in both acting an in activism. Act is a big word for her! With her large eyes, expressive face, and huge boobs, she was a natural. Also, her mom was an actress, so Sarah Polley was always able to find her way to the spotlight if she wanted to - and she did.
Sarah Polley started acting when she was only four years, debuting in the movie One Magic Christmas. She was even in the pilot episode for the Friday the 13th series. When she was 8 she was cast as Ramona Quimby in the Ramona series which really put her in the spotlight among the Canadian youth. So if you grew up in Canada in the late 80s and 90s, then you for sure know who Sarah Polley is.
Like a lot of child stars, she came of age and decided to do more daring work in her adult life. In 1999, she made her nude debut in the movie Guinevere. This flick stars a bevy of talented women like Jean Smart, Gina Gershon, and Sandra Oh. Sarah Polley is the star as a young woman from a rich family who rebels by becoming a nude model for an older photographer. Hot!
She starred in the theater comedy Slings and Arrows, but you might recognize her topless in the series John Adams. She played Nabby Adams and Nabby was not too shabby when she showed her knockers. We can't ever get tired of Sarah Polley's pair!
She directed the short series Hey Lady! most recently in 2020 and the critically acclaimed film Away From Her in 2006. Neither of those projects had nudity, but they were both very good. One of her films had A LOT of nudity and you have probably heard of it: Take This Waltz. Oh, you know this movie! We love this movie at Mr. Skin. Specifically, we really love this scene:
This 2011 drama follows Michelle Williams as a woman who finds herself in a sexy love triangle. She is torn between her hubby played by the sweet Seth Rogen and her handsome neighbor played by Luke Kirby. The sexual tension is through the roof which is understandable - it's Michelle Williams. She is super sexy and her hot sex scene is one for the books.
One of the best scenes is a group shower scene with Sarah Silverman, Michelle Williams, and Jennifer Podemski. They are all foxy and full frontal in this wet scene that left pants wet around the world. This scene takes place 51-minutes into the movie which is just proof that this film provides a steady stream of nudity throughout.
Her next film is the highly anticipated Women Talking set to be released later this year. The movie stars Rooney Mara, Frances McDormand, and current indie It Girl Jessie Buckley. That is quite the cast! The plot follows a group of women who live in a Mennonite colony in Bolivia struggling with their faith during a time when several men have been attacking members of the community.
I really am excited for this film. It sounds great. The cast is great. Sarah Polley's resume so far is great. What's not to be excited about?
