El Dia de la Bestia (1995), or The Day of the Beast, is a European exploitation film that plays with religion, sex, and violence in increasingly imaginative and inventive ways! When a priest from a small Spanish village thinks he's cracked the numerological code in the bible that will tell him the exact date of the end of the world, he becomes determined to travel to the Vatican and share his findings with the papal council. The priest becomes convinced that the only way for them to prevent the birth of the antichrist is for him to transform himself into the most dedicated sinner in the world. This way, a life devoted to all the worst impulses of mankind will bring him special attention from the devil, who is sure to want to select him as the antichrist. At that point, the priest will then kill himself, thus preventing the apocalypse from ever taking place! The priest teams up with a Death Metal aficionado and an Occultist in hopes that they will be able to help him pick the most vile, ancient sins imaginable, the kind sure to grab old Beelzebub's attention. Perhaps the most disappointing thing about this otherwise totally enjoyable film is that the only nudity in it is of the male variety. Thankfully the sensationally stacked Maria Grazia Cucinotta is on hand to show off lots of cleavage in an insanely sexy red bustier! We'd gladly sell our souls to the devil to see Maria without that bustier on... though maybe that's too low an asking price for our souls! Ah, the hell with it, it'll be worth it!
