Suncoast (2024)

A semi-autobiographical story from writer/director Laura Chinn, this mid-2000s-set drama stars Thandiwe Newton’s daughter Nico Parker as Doris, a teenager in Clearwater, Florida who’s brother is dying of braun cancer. The family ends up moving him into hospice care at Suncoast, which is also where Terry Schiavo resides. She was the woman in a persistent vegetative state whose was the subject of a divisive court case between her husband and parents about whether she would have wanted to be kept on life support, and Woody Harrelson shows up as a protestor who befriends Doris. Doris’s mother (played by Laura Linney) resolves to stay by her son’s side, leaving her daughter to take care of their house, so of course she throws a party in order to hang out with the popular girls, including the ultra busty Ariel Martin and her overflowing cleavage.
