Summer of '42 (1971)

Summer of ’42 (1971) is a romance about a summer vacation in Nantucket Island in the titular year, where a youth eagerly awaits his first sexual experience and finds himself developing an innocent love for a young woman awaiting news of her husband’s fate, a soldier fighting overseas during World War II. God, it brings you back, right? No matter what year you came of age in, there is that universal longer for the mysteries behind door number sex. We can all recall it with nostalgia, and this movie reeks of it. Sadly, like most of us at the time, the movie also never consummates its nudity, but Jennifer O’Neill does undress when the camera behind her and above her waist. Like then, we’ll take what we can get.
