Sa raison d'être (2008)

A family deals with the effects of the AIDS epidemic in 1980s France in Sa raison d'être (2008). Nicolas (Michaël Cohen) is gay but still in the closet to everyone but his sister, Isabelle (Sophie Quinton), and her boyfriend, Bruno (Nicolas Gob). But after a bombing kills Isabelle and leaves Bruno seriously injured, Bruno receives a bad blood transfusion that infects him with HIV and leaves him alone caring for Isabelle’s son. The stigma of AIDS pushes Bruno to the edges of society, but Nicolas indentifies with his plight and steps in to help raise his nephew.It’s a sad tale but fans of skinema can still enjoy it thanks to the hetero joys of Sophie Quinton who bares her butterbags for her man in happier times.
