Set in the Spanish countryside during the hardscrabble years of the early 1940s, Pedro Olea’s Pim, pam, pum... ¡fuego! (1975) is bursting with period flair. Concha Velasco stars as Paca, a former chorus girl who’s recently found work as a midwife. Returning to her home in Madrid following a sightseeing tour of rural Spain, Paca experiences an encounter on the train that stokes her deepest passions. When a timid youth (Josep Maria Flotats) offers her a crumb of his meager meal, she accepts it and offers some dessert in return. Just like the title, you can count down to “Fire!” as the young woman slowly discards her panties for the primed passenger.
