Pedro, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (2021)

A dramatic period piece about Dom Pedro I (Cauã Reymond), first ruler of the Empire of Brazil, who had to undertake a journey back to Portugal to battle his brother Dom Miguel (Isac Graça) for the throne in the early 19th century. Besides this sibling rivalry, we learn a lot about the titular emperor through his many romantic relationships. Victoria Guerra shows all three Bs as Pedro’s second wife Amélia, as does Rita Wainer playing the mistress Domitila with whom he was famously obsessed. Cauã’s face also takes a deep dive into the clam of Isabél Zuaa one stormy night on a ship. That's one way to rock the boat!
