Meet the Applegates (1990) is a wacky sci-fi comedy about a family of large praying mantis/cockroach hybrids living in the South American jungle. Dissatisfied with their lives, they decide to move to a small suburban middle American town and disguise themselves as humans. The father takes a job at a nuclear power plant and the family plots to destroy human civilization, but it isn't long before they find themselves enjoying the comforts of human life, and they begin to reconsider their mission. One of the comforts the father enjoys is adultery, and he begins an affair with his next door neighbor Dottie (Savannah Smith Boucher).
