How to Date Billy Walsh (2024)

From a television director whose credits include Riverdale, Bridgerton, and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, this YA rom-com tells the story of two besties who’ve been friends since they were accidentally switched at birth in the hospital. We’re introduced to Archie Arnold (Sebastian Croft), a student at the posh Heathbrook Academy, looking like he’s been through hell, and about to make a big speech at the school’s annual summer ball. Then we flashback to how he got there, which all revolves around his grand plan to finally tell his lifelong BFF Amelia “Millie” Brown (Charithra Chandran) that he’s in love with her. Unfortunately, before he can pull it off, he’s thwarted by the arrival of a handsome American transfer student named Billy Walsh (Tanner Buchanan). The more Archie tries to get Millie’s attention away from Billy, the more his hijinks end up bringing her and Billy together. Save for a quick look up Charithra’s ripped dress when she gets thrown from her bicycle, it looks like this film could’ve benefitted from a lesson entitled “How To Show More Skin.”
