Grizzly (1976)

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the woods and go camping, there just so happens to be an 18 foot tall man-eating GRIZZLY waiting outside the campground!  Just like it's mega-hit blockbuster monster movie predecessor from the previous year, Jaws (1975), we follow a very similar formula, but just swap out Amity Island and Chief Brody and plug in a vast state park and a Park Ranger played by Christopher George on the hunt for the new behemoth that cannot be stopped!  Grizzly follows plenty of different introductions of ill-fated campers, but the ongoing theme, if the girls get in their undies, that bear is going to pop out and eat them as it happens three times in this creature feature!  Grizzly pops out and eats Kathy Rickman and her friend, first and foremost, and Kathy shows some pokies while he tears apart the cabin she's in!  Then poor Ranger Gail (Penthouse Pet of the Year 1977 Victoria Johnson) decides to strip down to her undies for some alone time in a waterfall... Out comes Grizzly and eats her!  Then even more poor Sally (Sandra Dorsey) gets eaten right out of her tent when she gets down to her blue undies for bed!  Jaws really opened the floodgates of rip-off flicks, but Grizzly holds the ultimate distinction of being the first as its 1976 release date is less than a year after the classic came out.  It was followed by others like Piranha (1978), Orca (1977), and Alligator (1980), but Grizzly stands out as the tagline really leaned into it with "The Most Dangerous JAWS On Land"!
