Diva (1981)

A young mail carrier is about to get himself into the stickiest of situations by the most unsuspecting way possible.  You see, the young man, Jules (Frédéric Andrei) is passionate about one thing and one thing only, the Opera!  When a young American singer comes to his hometown, he becomes slightly more than obsessed with her and her incredible voice.  The problem for this young man though is that the Diva, Cynthia Hawkins (Wilhelmenia Fernandez) doesn't believe in having her voice recorded, so there are no existing tapes, records, phonographs, nothing of her illustrious pipes out there, so this young man sets out to sneakily record her.  When he gets a tape recorder and sneaks into one of her performances to get her on tape for his own personal listening pleasure at home, he unknowingly records one of the highest ranking police chiefs in town, incriminating himself in the worst way possible and admitting on tape that he is bought and paid for by the local mafia boss!  What follows for the young mail courier is a tense cat & mouse game of him being chased all around town by cops, mobsters, Opera aficionados, prostitutes, pimps, and pretty much anyone he crosses on his way to just listen to some music!  Lucky for us, this is a classic foreign film, so it's not only an amazing quality movie that holds up to this day, years after is was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the BAFTAs, it also is chocked full of sexy starlets showing some skin, like the incomparable French sex starlet and legendary pornstar, Brigitte Lahaie, letting her bush pop out of her undies in a scene where she just walks by and a subway blows up her skirt!
