Daddy Longlegs (2009)

Daddy Longlegs (2009) is the sophomore feature film from writing and directing duo Josh and Benny Safdie. The Safdies turned to their own childhood for the inspiration behind this film which follows Manhattan movie theater projectionist Lenny (Ronald Bronstein), a man whose freewheeling lifestyle doesn't lend itself well to relationships of any kind. However, when saddled with custody of his two sons for two weeks, Lenny must step up to the plate and be a dad for the first time in a long time. Of course, a guy like Lenny doesn't just change overnight and the chaos he brings into his son's lives over the next two weeks might just cause enough trauma to last both their lifetimes! Film geeks will fawn over the nascent Safdie formula coming into being, as well as a cameo from another New York filmmaking icon in Abel Ferrara, but Skin fans will rejoice over the full frontal nudity from Dakota Goldhor just 16 minutes in!
