The small-town senorita sees her daddy, the burg’s telegraph man, whisked away by a military goon squad and then must watch her mother compromise virtue and belief in an attempt to stay afloat under the thumb of a repressive dictatorial regime. And all the while that life is being squeezed out of her family, the whole town is dancing through the streets in a drunken bacchanal of willful oblivion.
