Ed Wood made the worst films of all time. Ever heard of Plan 9 From Outer Space? That's Ed Wood's doing! The endlessly optimistic B-movie king was so fascinating with his bad films and his ability to convince Bela Lugosi to star in his films, that Tim Burton made this 90s film dedicated to telling Ed Wood's story. Sarah Jessica Parker stars and has a steamy lingerie scene while Lisa Marie shows her cleavage as Vampira. These girls are bound to give you wood.
Citizen Kane is still considered the best film of all time - still! The lore behind the movie is just as fascinating as the film itself which is what 2020's Mank shines a light on. David Fincher's film follows Hollywood screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz who tries to finish his screenplay for Citizen Kane despite battling alcoholism. One way to help him finish the script? Get a hot babe like Kaylee Mattoon to take dictation. She looks like she could take a lot of DICKtation!
The Player is a cool thriller about Hollywood in which a Hollywood executive, played by Tim Robbins, has two terrible things happening at once: he thinks that he is about to lose his job and he is being threatened by a mysterious scriptwriter whose screenplay he rejected. He tries to figure out who is threatening him while also doing whatever it takes to keep his job. Full disclosure: I love this movie. It's a top ten for me. There is a ton of shop talk in the film as they talk about a bunch of real movies, but the fake movie that they are making is an action flick called Habeas Corpus.
Meta shenanigans aside. Cynthia Stevenson is sexy when she is topless in a hot tub and reading scripts. That's how you make it in show business!
Shadow of the Vampire is a comedy about the making of 1922's Nosferatu. The issue? The actor playing the vampire appears to be a REAL vampire. This is a delightfully modern, meta-horror film that pays homage to the original movie vampire while putting a twist on it. It's definitely inventive. No, there was no nudity in the 1922 German expressionist film, but Shadow of the Vampire remedies that. Catherine McCormack goes topless in bed to show off her serious suck sacks.
The Disaster Artist
While Mank is about the greatest film of all time, The Disaster Artist is about the worst movie of all time. Well, one of them. Ed Wood's films were long considered to be the absolute worst, but then Tommy Wiseau stepped in and said "hold my beer". He made The Room which is SO confusingly bad that it is legitimately entertaining. I have personally watched The Room an embarrassing amount of times. It is so funny.
Naturally, a bunch of comedic actors thought that it was funny, too. They decide to make a movie about The Room, based on a book about the experience written by one of the film's lead actors. The original movie had multiple, very long sex scenes. The Disaster Artist shockingly does not do any female nudity in the movie. That is why I want to direct your attention back to the original. Yes, this is sneaky of me, I know. BUT The Disaster Artist is a really fun movie, so I wanted to include it while also praising Juliette Daniel for playing the original Lisa.
