Our Staff Picks column takes you back to a time when video stores reigned supreme and the "Staff Picks" section was the place to find out what films were worthy of one's time. Of course, our version of Staff Picks has a decidedly skintillating angle, as we suss out which films from a particular subgenre are the best to find great nudity. This week let's cover one of the absolute BEST years in moviemaking: foreign lesbian films.
Since it is pride month, I wanted to extend my love for lesbians. Let's extend it globally by touching on some foreign films that focus on the love between two women. These are skintastic films with lesbian characters and storylines that also happen to have very sexy nudity. Hey, that's my favorite! Check out these flicks:
Ma Belle, My Beauty
Let's start with a sexy lesbian romance set in the south of France. What's steamer than a summer romance between two young ladies in the south of France? Idella Johnson plays a musician who is on tour with her hubby. They go to live in a family house down south to practice for a little while between gigs when they come across Hannah Pepper...a woman who used to be in a relationship WITH the couple.
This film is filled with sexual games as the former lovers navigate whether or not they want to be in a relationship again. New romances, old romances, and everything in between is explored in this film as the women also explore each other's bodies.
Ride or Die
This Japanese thriller is really thrilling when it comes to its female nudity. The plot follows two women who have been having an affair with one another. One decides to "help" the other by murdering her abusive husband. Then the two go on the run, but the reality of the murder sets in for the two in separate ways. Honami Satô and Kiko Mizuhara engage in sex in between all of the violence.
Elisa and Marcela
This understated Spanish film is amazing for multiple reasons. The black-and-white flick is based on a true story for one. Another reason that I find it so sexy is that this historical romance features turn-of-the-century bondage as the lovers engage in a little light rope play. The true story takes place in a rural Galician village in 1901 in which Elisa Sanchez Loriga lived secretly as a man named Mario Sanchez in order for her to legally marry her lover Marcela Gracia Ibeas. What results is a story of girl-on-girl action!
Oh, and there's some toe-sucking!
Blue is the Warmest Color
Let's hear it for a true classic! This French film set the world ablaze in 2013 with its record-breaking sex scenes that were long and graphic. The entire world really got to know Adèle Exarchopoulos and Léa Seydoux as they got to know each other very intimately with their passionate scissoring scenes. What can I possibly say that isn't best said with this classic scene?
The Handmaiden
If you love Blue is the Warmest Color, but you haven't seen The Handmaiden then you are sorely missing out. This movie, in my opinion, has what might be the hottest lesbian sex scenes ever filmed. Min-Hee Kim and Tae-Ri Kim display serious Kim-On-Kim action when they have sex scenes that rival all the others on this list.
