The Spirit Award Nominees were announced this week, and they showcase a wonderful selection of films. More importantly, however, they showcase actors who have gone nude at some point in their careers! While the Spirit Awards have never been as popular as the Oscars or the Golden Globes (which is part of the point, as they aim to celebrate indie film and anything that isn't made by a major Hollywood studio), they are becoming increasingly respected in Hollywood's current landscape of non-stop remakes and films based on IP. As a result, the Spirit Awards are starting to assert themselves as the real arbiter of good film.
Don't get me wrong - I still love watching the other award shows (you never know when a nip slip might occur!), but I love that the Spirit Awards nominate daring movies with actresses who dare to go nude. What's not to love about that?
