Sexy Sharon Stone is making headlines again! What did she say this time? Did she take anything off or show off her private parts like she famously did in Basic Instinct? No, actually. She is making headlines because Dana Carvey apologized to her for an overly explicit Saturday Night Live sketch they did in the early 90s and she said she didn't care. She thought it was harmless! So what was this sketch? Let's get into it.
This conversation happened on Dana Carvey's podcast that he does with his co-host David Spade called "Fly on the Wall". In a recent episode, they welcomed Sharon Stone as their guest and they reminisced about her hosting gig on SNL in April of 1992. This was right after the erotic thriller Basic Instinct was released and Sharon Stone became synonymous with sexiness!
Dana wanted to talk about a sketch they did called Airport Securit and he complimented Sharon on being "a good sport" about the premise of the sketch because he claimed that they would be arrested if they tried to do it now. So what was the sketch?
Sharon Stone was playing a lady in the airport going through security. She gets stopped by TSA and asked to take off her clothes one item at a time. It was clear that the security guards just wanted to see this total babe in the buff! Dana apologized and even David Spade added that it was an offensive sketch.
So what did Sharon say? She said that she didn't care! She said that it was the humor of the time that they were in and she was okay with it then just as she is now. "That was funny to me, I didn’t care. I was fine being the butt of the joke." She added that she thinks people are too scared and cautious now, blaming it on people spending too much time alone. Oh, what I would give to fix that by spending time with Sharon Stone!
Interestingly, she brought up a wild story of protestors coming to the show right before she had to give the opening monologue. They were attempting to charge the stage because they were protesting her AIDs activism work! Six guys were even taken into custody for trying to crash the taping and Sharon is eternally grateful to Lorne Michaels for handling that scary situation.
She said: "I came out to do the monologue live, which is super scary, and a bunch of people started storming the stage saying they were going to kill me during the opening monologue. The security that was in there froze because they never had seen anything like that happen. Lorne started screaming at [security], ‘What are you doing? Watching the fucking show?’ And Lorne started beating them up and pulling them back from the stage. The stage manager looked at me and said, ‘Hold for five.’ So all these people were getting beat up and handcuffed in front of me as we went live.”
That's crazy! Who knew? I didn't!
No wonder Sharon didn't care about the sketch. She had bigger fish to fry during her hosting gig. That's something I love about Sharon Stone. She's one tough cookie - and her TA is as sweet as cookies, too!
