This week's Female Filmmaker is an actress and director who has only directed one feature film with nudity...but it is VERY hot. Let's talk about the career of Geneviève Robert.

Female Filmmakers: Geneviève Robert

Not much is known about the personal life and background of Geneviève Robert. She is a mysterious woman! What is known about her is that she was married to Ivan Reitman for nearly four decades until he passed away in 2022. The pair had three children, including director Jason Reitman and actress Catherine Reitman.

Ms. Robert was an actress as well and that is how she began her career. She acted in some campy horror flicks in the 70s and had bit parts, but her directorial debut is how we best know her.

Robert only directed one film, but the film that she directed is filled with nudity. She directed the 1988 film Casual Sex? which asks a rather cheeky question in the title. A question that gets answered with 80s sex comedy realness!

The film follows two beautiful young women played by Victoria Jackson and Lea Thompson. They go on vacation at a nice resort to meet the loves of their lives, but the men that they meet only want to keep things casual. The women get laid, of course, and meet a lot of men who take them on wild adventures emotionally and physically.

Casual Sex? is noteworthy for being the first studio film to make mention of AIDS as a legitimate fear for the sexually active in the 80s. Initially the film was based on a sketch by writers Judy Toll and Wendy Goldman about AIDS. They went on to develop the sketch into a play and then a screenplay and became the first to write about the topic in this way.

Just because AIDS is in the background of the picture doesn't mean that they don't all get naked. The stunning young ladies sunbathe on the sand. They are in the buff and beautiful as they press their mams against the sand and let the sun kiss their backsides. Their bodies are tanning, letting

Victoria Jackson was asked by the Chicago Tribune if she thought it was hypocritical for her to go nude in the film based on her strict Christian beliefs. She scoffed at the question. "Christians have sex, and they love sex,'' she said. "It's just that they don`t make fun of it. It's a beautiful thing." She also insisted that the movie is casually against casual sex, so she stood by the movie and its message. I stand by Victoria's nudity!

Casual Sex? was the only film that Roberts directed. The reason for that is not known, like a lot of things with this enigmatic entertainer. The film had mediocre reviews which could be why, but it deserves praise for its daring portrayal of sex in the 80s. We will praise it for its amazing nude scenes that will take you on a horny vacation.
